Charly Goes to Market

On Saturday if the weather’s fine, we jump into the car

and off we go to market, it isn’t very far

Depending on the traffic it’s a half an hour or so

it’s me and Steve and Charly he’s the real star of the show

Everyone takes their dog you see, they’re all out on parade

sniffing each other’s bottoms, but we do try to dissuade

It’s how they say hello you know, it’s how they make new friends

but sometimes Charly goes too far, his enthusiasm offends

The mummies and the daddies, clinging to their leads

hoping that the poo bag will be surplus to their needs

“He’s so handsome….she’s so cute”, but everybody knows

Charly is the number one, it’s said wher’er he goes

The trouble is he knows it, it’s as clear as clear can be

he walks with such panache, such pride, such regality

I guess we may be biased but we believe it to be true

his golden coat is flawless, he’s a beauty through and through
